“Thomas” 2020 AQHA Sorrel Gelding

Thomas is an adorable, super gentle, big-hipped gelding who stands a correct and square 14.1 hands tall. He comes with an impressive pedigree, by a good son of Gunner and out of a daughter of Smart Spook, giving him strong black-type bloodlines in the reining world. Fully trained in reining, Thomas is a fancy turner, a huge stopper, and a genuinely fun ride. He’s got tons of foot speed when asked and consistently delivers big, stylish stops. Out on the trails, he’s good-minded, with a ground-covering walk that will get you where you want to go. We’ve ridden plenty of outdoor miles with him, and he continues to adapt and improve with each ride.

Thomas has excellent ground manners. He stands ground tied for saddling if desired, enjoys baths, stands quietly for the farrier, and is always easy to catch. While we’re not rope horse trainers, we’ve played around with him on the hot heels, and he’s a blast. He tracks well and keeps your loop open with his big stop, showing plenty of promise. With his natural ability, speed, and stop, we believe he has everything it takes to become a high-level calf horse, heel horse, or breakaway prospect.

Conformationally, Thomas is hard to fault. He was awarded first place in a ranch conformation class judged by Iowa FFA students. He hauls like well, loads and unloads easily, and stands tied at the hitching rail. He’s been exposed to kids, toys, tarps, ropes, flags, and much more. Always good-minded, eager to please, and friendly, Thomas greets every day with his ears up and a willing attitude.

He’s ready to go home and be finished in any direction you choose. Incredibly well-trained, he’s packed with buttons and body control, making him a versatile candidate for multiple disciplines. With his “can-do” attitude, Thomas is sure to succeed wherever you take him.
